Lack of New Chest Physicians Raises Concerns for Future Epidemic Response

Reported 11 months ago

A shortage of new chest physicians in Taiwan's medical field is causing concerns for future epidemic responses. Only one out of four expected trainee doctors applied for the chest internal medicine specialty training program at National Taiwan University Hospital. The Chest and Critical Care Medicine Society is worried about the lack of manpower to handle large-scale epidemics in the future, with many inexperienced doctors being hesitant to join the field due to the heavy workload, low income, and lack of self-paid procedures.
