President Lai Ching-te hosted the 'Trust, New Politics, New Taiwan' press conference on the one-month anniversary of his inauguration. Facing inquiries from foreign media about China's gray-zone harassment towards Taiwan, Lai emphasized that China's annexation of Taiwan is a national policy and Taiwan will not succumb to China's coercion. Lai announced the establishment of committees on climate, defense, and health, and also discussed Taiwan's response to recent military threats in the region and Taiwan's participation in the US defense supply chain. He expressed gratitude for the G7 Summit's recognition of Taiwan's peace and stability being crucial for global security and prosperity, urged China to abandon unilateral coercive actions, and thanked the US for its military support towards maintaining peace in the Taiwan Strait.
