Lai Ching-te claims State of the Union address 'question and answer session' unconstitutional, Huang Kuo-chang criticizes: Did you use 'obviously unconstitutional' political views to deceive voters last year?

Reported 11 months ago

Taiwan People's Party lawmakers Huang Kuo-chang and Chang Chou-kai held a press conference at the Legislative Yuan, criticizing President Lai Ching-te for signing a law obligating the President to deliver an address to parliament and engage in an immediate Q&A session. Huang questioned whether Lai deceived voters with 'obviously unconstitutional political views' during the previous election, urging him to apologize if so. Lai defended the law amendments but acknowledged concerns over their constitutionality, while Huang continued to press Lai on his inconsistency in supporting the law now. Meanwhile, lawmaker Chang Chou-kai also chastised Lai for not being up to date on parliamentary progress and for his stance on the Q&A format of the address differing from earlier discussions.
