President Lai Ching-te recently stated his intention to apply for constitutional interpretation and temporary disposition regarding parliamentary powers. In response to opposition party's request for a national report in the Legislative Yuan, he mentioned waiting for the interpretation before deciding. Kuomintang legislator Wu Tsung-hsien criticized this approach, likening it to not paying taxes after filing a constitutional interpretation request for tax laws. Wu stressed that laws are effective until declared unconstitutional by the grand justices, emphasizing the need for clear reasoning in applying temporary disposition. Wu pointed out the illogical nature of waiting for the interpretation before fulfilling parliamentary duties, labeling it as setting a precedent for legal and constitutional violations.
