During a Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Central Standing Committee meeting on June 26, Chen Kai-chun reported that Lai Ching-te expressed hope that the results of the Constitutional Court can be respected and accepted by both camps. The proposed amendments to the Legislative Yuan Powers and Functions Act, which were criticized for unconstitutional power expansion, were rejected by the Legislative Yuan after reconsideration by the Executive Yuan and subsequently by the KMT and DPP. Various government entities are now applying for a constitutional interpretation. Lai reiterated that they oppose expanding parliamentary powers, not parliamentary reform, and called on all sectors to respect and accept the outcome of the constitutional interpretation, emphasizing the importance of defending Taiwan's democratic values and the integrity of the constitutional system amidst ongoing political disputes.
