On June 16, 2024, the Army Military Academy held its centennial celebration, where a student succumbed to heatstroke under the scorching sun. President Lai Ching-te, in his capacity as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, presided over the parade. During the ceremony, a student showed symptoms of heat injury due to the hot weather and had difficulty standing up, eventually leaving with assistance from colleagues. Doctor Yen Chung-hai warned that severe cases of heat injury can lead to kidney failure and rhabdomyolysis, with a high mortality rate. Protective measures like staying hydrated and avoiding prolonged sun exposure are crucial to prevent heat-related illnesses.
