A man from the mainland drove a speedboat into Taiwan's waters and headed straight for the Tamsui ferry dock on November 9, causing criticism of the Coast Guard's national security oversight. Naval Chief of Staff Chiu Chun-jung stated on the 13th that existing naval radar equipment is unable to detect small boats, raising concerns. Experts mentioned that the Coast Guard's detection equipment suffers from short range, poor image quality, slow data transmission, and inadequate aerial fleet capabilities, hindering operational efficiency. They emphasized the urgent need to adopt modern surveillance equipment to enhance maritime security and rebuild public confidence in safety.
