As of mid-July, a new regulation will be enforced requiring that electricity charges for rentals should not exceed the 'current average electricity price per unit' or the 'current electricity total' stated in the electricity bill. The aim is to promote reasonable and fair collection of rental electricity charges and enhance transparency in electricity cost information. Amendments to the regulations on rental electricity charges have been approved by the Executive Yuan and are set to be officially implemented by mid-July. Landlords will need to adhere to the new standards outlined in the amendments while also providing tenants with access to electricity cost information, with tenants having the option to inquire about electricity charges directly with the power company.
