Landlords Prohibited from Overcharging Electricity Fees: Effective Mid-July, Hung Shen-han: First Step to Addressing Injustice

Reported 12 months ago

The new rental contract template is expected to take effect in mid-July, requiring landlords to charge tenants based on the actual electricity usage. The Consumer Protection Commission approved the latest rental contract template on the 28th, stipulating that landlords can only charge tenants based on the actual electricity bills from Taiwan Power Company. This regulation aims to address the common issue of landlords overcharging electricity fees, with violations subject to consumer dispute complaints at the Consumer Protection Commission post-implementation. Legislator Hung Shen-han emphasized the importance of this development in rectifying injustices faced by tenants and highlighted the need for further improvements in the rental housing market structure.
