President Xi Jinping praised the project, highlighting China's modernization through hard work and pushing for further integration of the Greater Bay Area market. The channel, a major transportation project, was celebrated with an opening ceremony attended by officials including Huang Kunming, the Communist Party Secretary of Guangdong Province. The project, which took 7 years to complete, includes the world's largest offshore cable-stayed bridge and aims to enhance infrastructure connectivity and market integration in the region.
