As Tatung Institute of Technology, founded in 1963, is set to close on August 1st due to financial issues, the last graduation ceremony was held with 70 graduates attending. Despite feeling emotional, the students expressed gratitude for the four years of learning that had brought them motivation. The interim principal shared words of encouragement, urging the graduates to stay connected with their alma mater and bring honor to the institute in their future endeavors. The school's closure will involve all staff members either retiring or receiving voluntary resignation notices. Alumni, including DPP legislator Wang Mei-hui, reflected on the impact of declining birth rates, with hopes for the city government of Chiayi taking over the campus to benefit the community. One mature student, Zhang Shuzhen, who pursued a degree in Social Work and Service Management, expressed mixed emotions of sadness and gratitude as part of the last graduating class.
