In Taiwan waters, bluefin tuna fishing has been abundant for 5 consecutive years, breaking a 15-year record this year. However, just after Pingtung's Donggang was celebrating, they received an emergency fishery notice the next day implementing a fishing ban due to exceeding quotas, leaving fishermen shocked. Overseas fishing boats face significant losses in fuel and bait expenses. Some fishermen had to painfully discard 6 bluefin tunas. Donggang Fishermen's Association expressed the significant impact on fishermen and called for more comprehensive measures from the Fisheries Agency. The sudden ban caused chaos among fishermen, with many boats returning to port, and some captains reluctantly throwing away catches after the ban took effect on June 12th.
