With the COVID-19 situation escalating, there were 40 deaths last week. Doctors state that this new wave of variant strain resembles flu symptoms, with the key difference being the possibility of high fever, dizziness, and fatigue. The new variant strain LB.1, though not yet in Taiwan, is spreading abroad with increased infectivity. Physicians recommend individuals aged 60 and above to voluntarily wear masks and get vaccinated to enhance defense. While Taiwan no longer mandates mask-wearing, doctors advise seniors and high-risk groups to continue wearing masks. As a preventive measure against new variant strains, the Department of Health is urgently procuring the latest JN.1 vaccine for an expected rollout in early October. It is noted that the summer surge in COVID-19 cases has arrived earlier this year, and individuals should be vigilant for symptoms such as fever, dizziness, and fatigue.
