According to a recent survey by the Chinese Human Rights Association and the Taiwan Deliberative Democracy Association, a staggering 83% of the public does not support abolishing the death penalty, with only 10% in favor of abolition. The survey also reveals that 76% believe that the death penalty for murder is justifiable, and 85% agree on the importance of considering the societal and victim's family's desire for fairness and justice in major crimes. Additionally, a majority of respondents (76%) believe that the decision to abolish the death penalty should be made through a public vote or legislative process rather than by the Grand Justices, indicating a lack of trust in the judicial system.
