Law on Parliament Authority Amendment Takes Effect Differently? Keith Wong: No Violations so Far

Reported over 1 year ago

The Nationalist Party and Peoples Party pushed for amendments to the Parliament Authority Exercise Act and some sections of the Criminal Code, leading to several constitutional interpretations being proposed by various governmental bodies. Recently, the new law came into effect, and Premier Keith Wong mentioned that he was at the parliament today to 'test the law.' During questioning, Wong expressed that at least he has not violated the law so far. Additionally, due to oversupply of eggs in Taiwan causing financial distress for egg farmers and sellers, suggestions were made to provide surplus eggs to the military or convert them into liquid eggs. Minister of Agriculture Chen Chun-Chi also reached out to the military and catering services for assistance. As part of the parliament reform, former Premier Lai Ching-te petitioned for constitutional interpretation, which the government did not oppose, and Wong emphasized the need for law enforcement in parliament reform.
