Lawmaker proposes amending Railway Act to tailor regulations to local conditions

Reported 6 months ago

Nationalist Party lawmaker Liao Hsien-hsiang has proposed amending the Railway Act to allow railway route regulations to be adapted to local conditions, especially for passage and disaster relief purposes. The proposal comes after social media influencer Tony was fined for walking on a maintenance path near the San Diao Ling railway bridge in Pingxi, New Taipei City, as it was the only route for local residents to access the station. The amendment aims to provide flexibility in addressing situations where established roads are blocked by railway construction, impacting emergency response times and local residents' access.
