Lawsuit against Florida's Age Restrictions for Adult Entertainment Workers

Reported 12 months ago

A 19-year-old stripper and the club where she worked have filed a lawsuit against Florida's attorney general and two local prosecutors to challenge the enforcement of a new state law that bans adult entertainment businesses from employing individuals under the age of 21. The lawsuit argues that the law violates their First Amendment and Fourteenth Amendment rights, aiming to obtain a permanent injunction against its enforcement. The law, intended to combat human trafficking, also restricts the employment of other workers aged over 18 but under 21 in adult entertainment establishments. The Office of the Attorney General plans to defend the law in response to the legal action.
