As the term of Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) President Kishida Fumio is about to end, only the Aso faction remains after the dissolution of the six existing factions. Minister Taro Kono from the Aso faction recently had dinner with Vice President Taro Aso in Tokyo, expressing his intention to run for presidency. Kishida Fumio and Secretary-General Toshihiro Nikai also met with Aso to seek support. With internal factions dissolved, securing concentrated votes of LDP parliamentarians in the presidential election becomes challenging, and various interactions and discussions between key figures in the party indicate the complex situation ahead.
