Leak Prevention Oversight Leads to Second Terminal Leakage at Taoyuan Airport, Contractor Fined 100,000 NTD

Reported about 1 year ago

The second terminal of Taoyuan International Airport experienced leakage due to oversight in leak prevention engineering, during heavy rain around noon today. Taoyuan Airport Corporation announced a strict fine of 100,000 NTD for the construction contractor. The leakage occurred on the fourth floor dining area and above the airline lounge roof in the second terminal, attributed to flaws in waterproofing work done yesterday and delayed completion of subsequent tasks, exacerbated by sudden heavy rainfall this morning. Deputy General Manager of Taoyuan Airport, Sun Hongbin, revealed ongoing comprehensive waterproofing projects in both terminals lasting two years with a budget of around 200 million NTD, emphasizing the need for contractors to improve preventive measures swiftly.
