Lebanon has charged former central bank governor Riad Salameh with the embezzlement of $42 million amid an ongoing corruption investigation. The 73-year-old, who recently ended a three-decade term, faces accusations of financial misconduct, including manipulating financial statements to cover the country's economic crisis. Salameh, who has consistently denied all allegations, is also under scrutiny from several European nations for alleged money laundering and illicit enrichment.
