A police-chase incident occurred in Zuoying District, Kaohsiung, on the evening of June 17, 2024. Police received a report of a driver wielding a weapon near the intersection of Zhong Er Road and Bo'ai Fourth Road. Upon interception, the driver, a 41-year-old man surnamed He, brandished a 53cm saw at officers and even rammed a police car. After ignoring multiple warnings, the police fired three shots to subdue him, eventually capturing him after an hour-long chase. He, who sustained injuries from the shooting, was found with drug paraphernalia and the saw in his car. He will be prosecuted for obstructing official duties and drug offenses.
