Legislative Power Amendment Reconsideration Bill Rejected, Ko Chien-Ming: Will Request Constitutional Interpretation and Temporary Disposal

Reported 10 months ago

In the voting process with legislators lining up for registration, two reconsideration bills, one regarding the pink Legislative Power Exercise Act and the other concerning the yellow Criminal Code, were both rejected with 62 votes against and 51 in favor due to the numerical advantage of the blue and white parties. Following this, Premier Su Tseng-chang mentioned seeking constitutional remedies, while the Presidential Office stated that President Lai will carefully evaluate whether to file for constitutional interpretation. Various party representatives expressed their views, with Ko Chien-Ming from the DPP indicating that a constitutional interpretation will be requested shortly. The process includes the legislative power amendment becoming effective three days after the presidential announcement, enabling the DPP to request a constitutional interpretation and temporary disposal to delay the law's enforcement for six months.
