On June 24, 2024, the Legislative Yuan rejected the Executive Yuan's reconsideration of the Legislative Reform Bill. President Lai Ching-te stated his plan to apply for a constitutional interpretation and temporary injunction at the Constitutional Court yesterday. People First Party Chairman Ko Wen-je criticized President Lai for backtracking on promises and violating the constitution, pointing out discrepancies in the Democratic Progressive Party's stance on legislative reform. Ko also emphasized the importance of respecting the rule of law and criticized President Lai for potentially destabilizing the nation, urging unity and cooperation in politics to avoid dangerous confrontations.
