The Executive Yuan provided 7 reasons why the Legislative Yuan's passage of the Acts on the Exercise of Legislative Powers and amendments to the Criminal Code should be reconsidered. After committee reviews, a vote was held, with a final result of 62 in favor of maintaining the original decision and 51 against reconsideration, causing the reconsideration to fail. The legislative amendments included making the presidential state of the nation address routine and penalties for contempt of parliament. Both the Kuomintang and People First Party opposed reconsideration, while the Democratic Progressive Party supported it. The Executive Yuan's request for reconsideration will not proceed, potentially leading to constitutional interpretation or interim measures being proposed.
