Legislator Fu Kun-chi of the blue camp criticized Lai Ching-te for not delivering a national report to the parliament on June 23, 2024, calling it illegal and unconstitutional. In response, President Lai Ching-te stated in a speech at the Presidential Office that amendments to parliamentary powers had sparked concerns from various sectors, prompting him to propose a constitutional interpretation. Fu Kun-chi retorted that nobody would investigate TSMC and urged Lai Ching-te and the DPP not to insult TSMC or lower standards. Fu also accused the DPP of releasing messages through its online army, challenging Lai Ching-te over allegations that parliamentary hearings and investigatory powers would deter foreign investment in Taiwan and claiming that TSMC would be investigated, emphasizing that TSMC, as a pride of Taiwan, should not be maligned. Fu criticized Lai for avoiding parliamentary questioning during his time as the mayor of Tainan, accusing him of unconstitutional behavior and criticized him for turning the national report into a matter to be decided after the constitutional interpretation results. Fu described Lai's actions as reminiscent of an autocratic, centralized government and not in line with his promises during his presidential campaign.
