During the Legislative Yuan's Procedure Committee meeting on June 12, 2024, the proposal related to 'legislators visiting mainland China under supervision' was once again rejected. The Democratic Progressive Party legislators Shen Boyang and others separately introduced amendments to Articles 9 and 91 of the 'Acts Governing Relations between People of the Taiwan Area and the Mainland Area,' which were rejected in the committee for the 7th time. The Civic Watchdog Group criticized this unprecedented and illegal act of abuse of power, stating that it sets parliamentary democracy back 16 years. They emphasized the importance of upholding democratic values and transparency in the legislative process.
