LG Chairman Visits the U.S. in Search of New AI Momentum

LG Group Chairman and CEO Koo Kwang-mo visited the United States on June 23, 2024, to explore growth engines in the fields of AI, biotechnology, and clean energy. Following Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong's visit to the U.S. in early June to meet with industry leaders in various fields like AI, semiconductors, and robotics, another heavyweight South Korean group chairman, LG, also made the trip. LG views AI, biotechnology, and clean energy as crucial to their development, with Chairman Koo inspecting LG's investment arm in Silicon Valley to understand their investments and strategies in these areas. LG's investment arm, LG Technology Ventures, has a scale of 1 trillion won (about $7.2 billion) and has invested in approximately 80 startups, mostly concentrated in AI among other areas.
