Li Keqiang Talks about Economy Contrary to Xi Jinping

Reported 12 months ago

On June 29, 2024, Li Keqiang, the Premier of the State Council of the Communist Party, mentioned that the Chinese mainland economy should not take drastic measures, but this statement was not widely reported by official media and some reports were even taken down. Experts interpreted this as an indirect acknowledgment of the severe state of the Chinese mainland economy, contradicting recent policies of Xi Jinping. Market expectations for reform at the 20th Central Economic Work Conference in July were dampened by Li Keqiang's remarks, seen as discordant with Xi Jinping's recent economic stimulus measures.
