Liechtenstein Voters Reject State Funding for Public Radio

Reported about 1 month ago

In a recent referendum, 55.4% of voters in Liechtenstein chose to end state funding for Radio Liechtenstein, casting uncertainty on the broadcaster's future. The decision, pushed by the opposition party Demokraten pro Liechtenstein, argued that the public radio consumes over 70% of the media funding, disadvantaging private outlets. The government expressed concerns about the feasibility of privatizing the station, highlighting that it had around 11,400 daily listeners in 2021.
