Lin Guocheng supports raising recall threshold, not afraid of recall: Zhang Yishan worries daughter, a councilor, might be recalled

Reported about 1 year ago

The Executive Yuan's reconsideration failed in the Legislative Yuan, with President Lai Ching-te applying for constitutional interpretation and temporary disposition; some citizens are preparing to launch actions to recall legislators in the future. Former People First Party Central Committee member Zhang Yishan analyzes on the program '94 Complainants,' stating that the recall of legislators can only be initiated next year, with the unresolved resentment from the reconsideration case now shifting to Keelung Mayor Xie Guoliang, where the recall petition against Xie Guoliang has reached 27,000 signatures, only 4,000 short of the threshold. Zhang Yishan expressed concerns over the possibility of the Keelung City Election Commission causing obstacles during the review, suggesting that the number of signatures should be higher. If the recall in Keelung is successful, it signals the arrival of a major recall era, where People First Party individual legislators such as Lin Guocheng also support the Kuomintang's view of raising the recall threshold, as the People First Party legislators, being party-list representatives, cannot be recalled. Zhang Yishan questions whether Lin Guocheng is afraid his councilor daughter might be recalled, proposing that if the public cannot recall People First Party legislators, they may turn to recall People First Party councilors as an alternative.
