On June 24, 2024, Nationalist Party legislator Wu Zongxian, after previously stating that part of the bill expanding parliamentary powers was unconstitutional, later retracted his statement defending his party's bill as unlikely to be unconstitutional, sparking criticism. Democratic Progressive Party legislator Lin Junxian accused Wu of blaming any constitutional violations on Huang Guochang and criticized Wu for seemingly abandoning ship quickly. President Lai Ching-te applied for constitutional interpretation and provisional dispositions after the bill faced rejection in the Legislative Yuan. Lin also pointed out discrepancies in Wu's stance, highlighting the tension between the two parties amidst the ongoing debate.
