Lin Shijie, the director of a fishing association in Tainan City, was shot dead this morning. His daughter, Lin Yiting, a DPP member and Tainan City councilor, expressed on Facebook that she is saddened as there were misconceptions by the public and media. She was looking forward to letting her father hold a grandchild by the end of the year, but now that opportunity is lost. Lin Shijie was shot at close range at the door of his residence and died later in the hospital. Lin Yiting, accompanied by law enforcement, briefly faced the media with teary eyes and a hoarse voice, asking for privacy for the family. Despite rumors, she emphasized leaving everything to the police investigation and hoped for a swift arrest of the suspect. The post drew many condolences and wishes for her well-being during her pregnancy.
