On June 29, 2024, LINE celebrates its fifth anniversary of message verification by launching the STT (Speech to Text) feature where users can upload suspicious voice messages to the official LINE fact checker account. It will be verified by third-party partners, expanding verification to include text, links, text-based images, and voice messages (currently only supporting Mandarin). With an average of 600 to 930 suspicious voice messages verified each month, LINE's STT application in Taiwan is the first of its kind. Following the launch of the 'LINE Message Verification' service in 2019 to combat misinformation, LINE has become Taiwan's largest message verification platform with over 842,000 friends on the official account and over 246,000 reported suspicious messages. LINE also unveiled the top 10 false messages, with COVID-19-related claims dominating the list, along with AI and other health-related misinformation gaining attention.
