On June 28, 2024, Linne Township Mayor Liu Ziyen was proposed for recall by residents of Yunlin County. The recall has entered the second stage of petition, with a deadline for submission of names on July 29. If approved, a vote will take place within 60 days. The recall, led by residents including Ceng Qingxuan, cited issues such as the shutting off of water and electricity to community centers, heavy workloads for village officials, and lack of action on various community requests. Residents argue that if the mayor is not performing satisfactorily, they should have the right to recall. Mayor Liu responded by urging residents to discuss concerns before resorting to recall, due to financial and taxpayer burdens. Linne Township residents are encouraged to engage in dialogue and give time for the township administration to show results.
