Following a large fire in a private residence in Tucheng, the interior was left in ruins. The fire, suspected to be caused by the lithium battery in a hedge trimmer used for gardening by the homeowners, resulted in severe damage. Over the past 5 years, there have been 435 fires involving lithium batteries, resulting in 9 deaths and 105 injuries, mainly occurring in bedrooms and living rooms. The Fire Department warns of the risks associated with lithium battery usage and recommends precautions such as not charging batteries unattended and avoiding conditions like high temperature and humidity. In case of a fire, they suggest using a fire extinguisher and cool the battery with water to prevent reignition.
