In the early morning of June 12, 2024, a fire broke out in a residence in Tucheng District, New Taipei City, resulting in the death of three individuals. The fire was suspected to have been caused by a charging lithium battery explosion. The mother and one of the sons were pronounced dead after being sent to the hospital, while the other son was found dead at the scene. Firefighters took an hour to extinguish the flames, with the blaze consuming an area of 150 square meters. Investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the fire.
