A serious fire broke out in the early hours of June 13 on Yanshou Road in Tucheng, New Taipei City, resulting in the deaths of 3 people. The father of the Lee family allegedly caused an explosion by pouring water on a lithium battery, which the surviving daughter vehemently denies, stating that the fire started while the lithium battery was charging. The fire started on the 4th floor of a 7-story residential building, rapidly spreading due to a lack of fire barriers between stairwells. Only the father and daughter managed to escape; the mother, son, and daughter's boyfriend were trapped, with the boyfriend suffering severe burns and only being rescued after 8 hours. Further investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
