Reported 7 months ago

In the face of the 2026 New Taipei City mayoral election, Kuomintang Taipei City Councilor Li Ming-xian revealed that People First Party legislator Huang Kuo-chang had inquired in a restroom about the possibility of the Kuomintang allowing him to run as the New Taipei City mayor. In response, Kuomintang Taipei City Councilor Liu Cai-wei has stated that she is willing to be the first person to oppose Huang Kuo-chang representing the Kuomintang in the mayoral race and the first person to object to Huang Kuo-chang joining the Kuomintang. Liu pointed out that it is unlikely for Kuomintang supporters to back Huang Kuo-chang due to his criticisms of the Kuomintang in the past, and emphasized the need for consensus and discussion within the party regarding Huang's possible integration. Liu also highlighted the uncertainties surrounding Kuomintang supporters' perceptions of Huang Kuo-chang.
