London Hospitals Hit by Cyberattack Impacting Blood Transfusions

Several London hospitals, including Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital and King’s College Hospital, were impacted by a ransomware attack on lab services provider Synnovis, causing disruptions to blood transfusion services. The attack led to a loss of access to the blood transfusion IT system and urgent blood components could only be issued. NHS services across South East London were affected, with the incident being reported to authorities for investigation amidst concerns over potential data breaches.
