The Lone Star tick, known for causing meat and dairy allergies, is spreading northward, reaching over two dozen states. Factors such as milder winters, invasive plants, and deer populations are aiding their resurgence in areas like the northeast and Great Lakes region. Health officials warn of increased tick activity during summer, advising precautions like wearing repellent, long clothing, and checking for ticks to prevent alpha-gal syndrome, a meat allergy spread by Lone Star ticks.
