A new study suggests that chronic loneliness in older adults can significantly increase the risk of stroke. Researchers found that older adults who reported being consistently lonely had a 56% higher risk of stroke compared to those who did not feel lonely. The study, published in the journal eClinicalMedicine, highlighted the importance of assessing and addressing loneliness to help identify individuals at higher risk of stroke.
