Director Liau Ming-yi, known for his film 'Monster' four years ago, recently released a new movie 'Nightmare of Love' starring actors Lin Bo-hung, Xie Xin-ying, and Hsiang Chieh-ju, shifting the focus to controlling desires in relationships and adding a touch of fantasy thriller to urban romance. The film, Liau's second shot entirely with an iPhone, underwent a year and a half post-production period to enhance it with precise editing and seamless special effects. The storyline follows a guy who falls in love with a controlling girl, wishes for a different girlfriend in a dream, and wakes up to find his wish granted, sparking unexpected twists. Liau aims to portray common relationship issues faced by guys, where they tend to avoid emotional entanglements, leading to an intriguing plotline involving a wish-granted girlfriend switch, with the twist being that the new girlfriend turns out to be a girl the guy idolizes on Instagram, adding a sense of magical realism to the narrative.
