President Lula of Brazil emphasized that the country can thrive without US trade and will seek alternative partnerships after Donald Trump's threat of imposing 50% tariffs. Lula stated that Brazil's trade with the US only constitutes 1.7% of its GDP and expressed readiness to conduct trade in its own currency with other nations. He criticized Trump for interfering in Brazil's internal affairs and made it clear that he is open to negotiations despite the looming tariffs set to take effect August 1.
