The Ministry of Health and Welfare announced the top 10 causes of death in Taiwan for 2023, with cancer (malignant tumors) still topping the list for the 42nd consecutive year. The death clock for cancer sped up by 14 seconds compared to the previous year, with lung cancer maintaining the top position for 20 years. The statistics revealed a decrease in overall deaths, with a focus on cancer statistics showing an increase in deaths. Lung cancer, liver and intrahepatic bile duct cancer, colorectal cancer, female breast cancer, and prostate cancer were the top five causes of cancer deaths, with over 87% of cancer deaths occurring in people over 55 years old.
