According to the latest statistics released by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, malignant tumors (cancer) have been the leading cause of death for 42 consecutive years, with lung cancer continuing to top the list of cancer death rates. With symptoms often going unnoticed in the early stages, lung cancer is referred to as the 'silent killer.' However, advancements in immunotherapy and targeted therapy have increased the five-year survival rate for advanced lung cancer patients from 5% to 15%-20%. Smokers, those with a family history of lung cancer, genetic mutations, prolonged exposure to second-hand smoke, or carcinogenic substances in the workplace are at higher risk, and early symptoms may include persistent cough, wheezing, chest pain, weight loss, among others.
