Lyft has agreed to pay $2.1 million to settle allegations that it misled drivers about potential earnings during the pandemic. The lawsuit, filed by the U.S. Justice Department, claimed Lyft exaggerated driver income potential to recruit more drivers as demand for ride-hailing services began to grow. Lyft's ads suggested earnings could exceed $40 per hour in major cities, but these figures were based on the top-performing drivers, making them unrealistic for most. As part of the settlement, Lyft will cease misleading practices and has already revised several of its procedures.
