John J. J. Cho reiterated that the Republic of China and the People's Republic of China are not mutually subordinate, as Mainland Affairs Council Deputy Minister Liang Wen-chieh stated referring to both 'cross-strait relations' and 'the Republic of China and the People's Republic of China' as essentially two countries. The Ma Ying-jeou Foundation's executive Xiao Hsiu-cen suggested that if China is recognized as a country, the Mainland Affairs Council would lose its reason to exist, recommending Liang to resign and President Lai to abolish the council. Premier Su Tseng-chang also stated that the two entities are not subordinate, urging to uphold the current status, which is crucial for security and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
