According to Cho Jung-tai, accepting the opponent's conditions cannot resolve threats. Following the incident of a Penghu fishing boat being forcibly detained by China, the executive director of the Ma Ying-jeou Foundation, Hsiao Hsu-chen, requested President Lai Ching-te to acknowledge the 1992 Consensus and pragmatically handle cross-strait relations. Prime Minister Cho Jung-tai stated that at present, acknowledging any condition demanded by the opponent cannot dissuade threats from the opponent towards Taiwan. Hsiao noted that the Lai administration is completely incapable of handling cross-strait disputes, urging the government to prioritize national security and maintain the status quo by returning to the 'One China Principle' of the Republic of China Constitution while acknowledging the 1992 Consensus.
