Macau casino tycoon Xavier Huah, also known as Xavier Huah, was sentenced to 18 years in prison for his involvement in a cross-border gambling case, facing charges including leading a criminal organization, illegal gambling operations, fraud, and money laundering, with an amount totaling NT$3 trillion. Despite personally writing a letter to Chinese President Xi Jinping to clarify the accusations, the final verdict maintained the original sentence, with Huah and other defendants ordered to return NT$1.045 billion in unlawful gains to Macau authorities. Huah denied direct involvement in illegal activities and emphasized no victims or financial losses, but still faced severe punishment. Additionally, eight employees under him received sentences ranging from 9 to 12.5 years in prison.
