Ciara Mageean broke her own Irish senior 800m record with a time of 1:58.51 in her season debut in Manchester, finishing second to Phoebe Gill who won the British Milers Meet with a time of 1:58.08. Mageean's performance, which was well under the qualification standard, sets her up well for the European Championships in Rome in three weeks. Gill, a 17-year-old, continued her impressive form by winning the race. Another Irish athlete, Sarah Healy, finished fourth with a personal best time of 2:00.86, moving her to eighth on the Irish All-Time List.
